Exposição - “O universo místico de J. Altair”

“...Naïveté, a ingenuidade, era o último suspiro

do inconsciente coletivo em vias de extinção”. Jung.

                  Em uma parceria para homenagear um dos mitos da arte primitiva no Estado, e primeira individual “pós-morte”, o Museu Júlio de Castilhos e a produtora Patrícia Brito – Black Brasil Art, inauguram no dia 21 de novembro a mostra O UNIVERSO MÍSTICO DE J. ALTAIR. A exposição alusiva ao mês da Consciência Negra apresentará parte do acervo do artista das coleções de 2008 a 2012, apresentando uma visão dos símbolos e seus significados, proporcionando ao público a experiência educativa da observação da temática popular.

                  Falecido aos quinze dias do mês de fevereiro deste ano, J. ALTAIR como assinava em seus trabalhos e era conhecido pelo público, era o maior pintor primitivista de técnica ingênua e intimista considerado um mestre na arte naif no Rio Grande do Sul. Ao falecer, deixa filhos, netos, esposa, diversos seguidores dos cultos africanos, pois era também “babalorixá” e, inúmeros trabalhos de pinturas retratando a arte naif.

                    Através de um quadro intitulado “Despacho”,  J. Altair passou a colocar nas telas temas de seu culto religioso. O candomblé não era a temática de J. Altair que resultou de uma simples motivação pelo exótico, mas, antes, uma afirmação de fé: ele foi um autentico praticante do culto afro e, talvez, o único pintor Babalao do Brasil. Nesses trabalhos J. Altair destacou os elementos utilizados nos cultos afro, como búzios, amuletos, frutas e os alimentos característicos de cada orixá ou entidade.

                  São telas que focalizam temas da cultura afro original e como ela se desenvolveu no Brasil, sobretudo oriunda da nação de ioruba. Quando focalizados  os objetos, cultos, frutas e legumes que caracterizam os vários entes mitológicos, o artista optou por uma linha mais ingênua, mais decorativa. Com isso,  ele registrou em seus trabalhos crenças e valores religioso alem de artístico, para chegar até o público de maneira a fazer chocar primeiramente pela beleza.

                  Died on the fifteenth day of February of this year , as J. ALTAIR signed in their work and was known by the public , was the largest primitivist painter of naïve art and intimate considered a master in the art naif in Rio Grande do Sul When he died , leaves children, grandchildren , wife , many followers of African religions , it was also " babalorixá " and numerous works of paintings portraying the naive art .

                    Through a table entitled " Order " , J. Altair began to put on screen themes of their religious worship. Candomblé was not the subject of J. Altair which resulted in a simple motivation for the exotic , but rather an affirmation of faith : he was a practitioner of authentic african worship and perhaps the only painter babalaô Brazil. In these works J. Altair highlighted the elements used in african cults , such as whelks , amulets , fruits and foods characteristic of each deity or entity .

                  Are screens that focus on themes of original african culture and how it developed in Brazil , especially coming from the Yoruba nation . When focused objects , services , fruits and vegetables featuring various mythological beings , the artist opted for a more decorative most naive line. With that, he recorded in his religious beliefs and work values ​​beyond artistic, to reach the public in order to make the first shocking beauty.
